My research over the last fifteen years has tended to focus on three areas:

1) the representation of women in ancient Greek literature, especially “white-armed Hera” in Homer’s epics, the Egyptian/Greek Danaids in Aeschylus’s Suppliant Women, and Ischomachus’ unnamed wife in Xenophon’s Oeconomicus;

2) the surprisingly positive way that Tacitus depicts the foreign Other in his ethnographic monograph entitled Germania;

3) strategies for helping students succeed with the study of ancient languages.

Luckily I get to teach these texts on a regular basis and discuss such ideas with my very bright students.
